Step 1: Link text. First, you have to type your link text - the text that the reader will see and click on:
University of Oklahoma
Step 2: Link address. Then, you should have another browser window open, where you can see the webpage address in the browser bar. You need to highlight and copy the address from the browser bar.

After you have copied that webpage address, come back to your blog post and highlight the link text you have type, and hit the link button.

This will cause a pop-up window to open, where you can paste in the address. Make sure you include the http: part of the address - and be careful that you do not accidentally end up with http: twice. If you accidentally have http: twice in your link, the link will not work. When you are done, click Okay.

You should now see the HTML a href tag wrapped around your text.
Preview your link. To check and make sure the link is working, click on Preview at the bottom of the page. You will have the option of publishing your post as is, or going back to do some more editing.VERY IMPORTANT: If you are going to test the link, make sure you RIGHT-MOUSE click the link, and open it in a new window. Otherwise, you run the risk of losing your blog post!

In general, it's a good idea to get used to opening links with the right-mouse, so that they open in a new tab or in a new window. That way, you won't accidentally lose something important if the Back button does not cooperate! :-)

I would like to test my link, but there are no buttons on the bottom of my screen as indicated by the instructions and I don't know how to preview it.
Hi Christa, maybe this will help - here is the top of my screen and here is the bottom with the buttons (images will open in a separate tab). If you do not see the buttons on your screen, send me a screenshot of what you do see, okay? THANKS!
Whoops: those images will open in the same tab; anyway, I hope they will help. Let me know!
THANK YOU! I just got this to work tonight. Your description was wonderful and the pictures so helpful. Thanks much!
Hi Angela, I am glad that it worked! sometimes it is hard to get used to this kind of editor where you see the HTML code directly - but once you get used to it, it's a great way to learn a little bit about how HTML actually works. :-)
