The Invitation link. If a Ning.com community is "by invitation only," the invitations are sent via email, and contain a link for you to click in order to create your Ning.com account and join the community. Here is a typical link:
Creating your account. When you click on that link, you will be taken to a log in screen where you will create your Ning.com account log in (email address) and password. By default, the email address to which the invitation was sent will be displayed in the email address box. [Note: If you already have a Ning account, you can log in with that account - with just one Ning account you can join as many Ning communities as you want.] If you want to change the email address that is displayed there to an address you use more frequently, that is fine. You will also have the option to change the email address later if you want. The important thing to remember is that you will be using this email address to log in to the system again later, and if you forget your password, this is the address to which your password reminder will be sent. The email address you use here is also the address where any email notifications from the Ning community will be sent.
Creating your profile. After you have entered your email and password information, you will be taken to a screen where you can start to create your profile. You can also choose to edit your profile later on. Right now, the only required information is your name. Please enter your first name AND last name. If you use a nickname, please use that nickname here - this is where you will be getting to know the other students in the class, so you should enter the name that people will know you by. Any of the information you enter here can be edited later.
When you are done, click on the big JOIN button at the bottom of the screen, and you will be taken to the Homepage for your Ning community.Removing the Welcome Box. When you first view the Homepage of your Ning community, you will see a green welcome box that prompts you about some of the features available at your Ning. To remove this box, just click on the small X in the upper right-hand corner of the green box, and the prompt will no longer appear.

Now that you have successfully created your identify on the community, you can proceed to edit your profile, start blogging, and join in the discussions. I hope you will enjoy it!
